Personal Website: A Must Have!

brand-you-logo

Most people who are searching for a new job don’t realize that a personal website can be a real game changer. According to Workfolio, “56% of all hiring managers are more impressed by a candidate’s personal website than any other personal branding tool—however, only 7% of job seekers actually have a personal website.”

Having this tool to highlight your accomplishments can offer the employer some more information than what can be found on your resume. A web page can allow you to show more than a piece of paper can convey, and it probably doesnt hurt (regardless of your industry) to show you have some digital chops and awareness.

More and more employers are starting to Google search their candidates for the positions they are offering and it would be a great boost if they stumbled upon your website. It shows that you are professional and serious about your job search. Just make sure your website is complete, up to date, and has no errors.

When making your personal website it is important to focus on: a professional headline, a brief bio, your resume, a professional summary/objective, samples of your work, results, links, a blog, videos and other relevant multimedia and testimonials.  It is equally important to ensure that it is well-designed and put together professionally. It can show your creative side and show off your personality.  If it looks poor though it can definitely have an adverse impact.  Make sure it “looks the part!”

A great way to highlight that you have a personal website is to put the link in your email signature, on your resume and cover letter, and on your social networking profiles.  This is true whether you are on the job hunt or not.  A professionally, branded website can make a big difference in succeeding at your current job as well.

Set yourself apart from others and start creating your personal website right away.  Control what others are finding when they search your name, because believe me they are. Sircle Media is here to help and can build a responsive personal brand website for individuals in any industry.  Here is a recent website we built for our client, Gregory Frank

Nimble and Traackr Integrate!

Untitledg

Traackr (an influence platform) and Nimble (a social customer relationship management platform) integrated together to create a more effective management of influencer outreach programs. You have “Traackr’s contextual influencer identification and content tracking coupled with relationship management tools that enable you to create a plan, implement that plan, document the results, and even follow-up periodically with a complete interaction history.”

This new integration provides new contact details, personal and professional milestones.  It also gas RFP (request for proposal) timescales, deciding factors, competitive influencers, and peer connections, all in one place.

This really allows you to understand your potential and existing customers. It combines social online behaviors and software that monitors, analyzes, segments, and recommends. It combines the customers and the analytics all in one place.

Influence could be used as a tracking tool, not only as a promotional and social share tool. Alerts are set up to monitor any spikes in activity or the mention of keywords that would suggest the intention to buy soon.

It now allows companies to “fine-tune” their own offerings based on how their clients are using the new combination.

As we continue to grow our business and get busier each day, Hannah has been a very welcomed addition to our team. What made you get into social media? After getting a Facebook profile a few years ago, I really got into social media. Facebook was a fun and easy way to keep in touch with friends and socialize. Ever since then I have been really into social media and I like the idea of marketing through these different channels. I use Facebook, Instagram and Pinterest multiple times a day and love them! I am very excited to be part of the impact social media is making on marketing and society.

Where were you born? Livingston, New Jersey

How old are you? 19 years old.

What is your favorite color and why? Blue is my favorite color. I like it because it can be calm and relaxing, or a really fun color. It has always been my favorite!

Best comedy film of all time? Anchorman

What was the last thing you listened to on your iPod? Safe and Sound: Capital Cities

One celebrity you would take on a date and why? Definitely Beyonce. I love her and I love her music. She is the most inspirational female celebrity and has accomplished so much already. 23 Most Unfortunate Advertising Placements…

I came across this list of unfortunate advertising placements and felt compelled to share. The two standouts for me were:

1) A girl in her underwear with mud perfectly splattered/positioned from the tires with a saying right next to her “Mmm… Fabulous!”? = Priceless!

Screen Shot 2013-07-11 at 4.41.20 PM

2) And that carrot pointing straight at this girl’s backside in the next billboard, with a caption “Got a giant thirst?”!  #AwesomeScreen Shot 2013-07-11 at 4.41.43 PM

These ads were seriously in the wrong place at the wrong time! I guess they had it coming though.  I am sharing this series to highlight the importance of really thinking through ads and their many possible manifestations. These ads were just misplaced and as a result, everyone focused on the humor of it rather than  the ad itself.  I definitely got a kick of out them!

So, next time you are putting out an ad either on a billboard, bus, magazine, or even the side of an escalator, think about the possible usage and location.

Instagram Video

441236699_640

Instagram, the social media platform that allows you to capture pictures, upload, and edit them so you can share them with the world, came out with Instagram Video this month. Instagram Video allows you to capture a moving picture that is up to 15 seconds long (longer than Vine) and you can start and stop recording as many times as you wish within the 15 seconds! Instagram is allowing the world to capture and share the non stationary moments that are meaningful to them and they instantly became an even stronger powerhouse in the mobile device game.

A cool feature of Instagram Video is you can chose from 13 different filters that change the effects on the video! You can also choose which scene you want as the cover photo making it a very customizable app.

Many brands have already been getting in on the action. Here are some great examples put out by Complex Magazine. Video is allowing companies to flex their creativity on Instagram and it seems that the possibilities are endless!

Third Week As a Sircle Media Intern

WelcomeThis marks the end of the third week of my internship here at Sircle Media. This is my first experience in the real world and I wouldn’t change a thing so far. Before coming into the office on the first day, I had no idea what to expect; I was terrified. I walk into the building and asked the lady at the front desk what floor Sircle Media is located on. She gave me the most confused look and said that it didn’t exist. All I was thinking is, “Great I already messed up and I’m not even there yet, It’s all downhill from here!.” Even though it turned out I was in the right building and the lady didn’t look it up in the right place. Thank goodness we figured it out!

I finally walked into the office and it was nice to see a large wall of windows looking out into New York City (pretty cool for my first “job”).  I was greeted by Adam, and three of my co-workers who each know so much about all the Social Media platforms. I was warmly welcomed and just dove right into the world of Social Media.

I sat down with Adam as he was explaining to me what Sircle Media was all about and how my internship will be a great learning experience, and he really wasn’t lying! I also sat in on a meeting with one of their clients on my first day and I was so intrigued. I was actually able to see and hear how Sircle Media interacts with their clients firsthand.

Now that I’ve been here for three weeks, I’ve been doing a lot of work on Pinterest and Instagram for Sircle Media’s clients. The work that happens behind the scenes of Social Media is just so interesting to me! I’m more ready than ever to dive into this business.

Although this is my first time in a work environment, I realize that I really enjoy a small close-knit company that makes such a huge difference for their clients. It’s safe to say that I am learning so much and having a great and exciting experience at the same time. I hope to continue to learn and to help make a big difference during my time here!

Social Media Influencers = A ‘Must Have’!

Influencers

Long gone are the days when your success in Social Media was measured solely by the number of fans or followers you attained. Marketers are quickly beginning to realize the importance of influencers and bloggers in helping them actually develop a real loyal following. These influencers are thought leaders and experts within an industry with loyal fans and followers in tow. Because many consumers do not believe everything a brand says about themselves, influencers are viewed as credible and trusted sources that can/should be objective.

Social Media influencers act as a vital link in the Social Media chain. They have reach far beyond the average person and their fans value what they say. They could be the boost that your brand is looking for to increase visibility and improve your image. According to a study by Meteor Solutions, “These very important Internet users can directly influence 30% or more of overall end actions on brand websites by recommending the brand’s site, products or promotions to friends.”

What does this all mean for your brand?

Integrating Social influencers into your strategy can help ensure future success and profits. When one of these industry experts says something about you, their constituency of fans and followers are now aware of your brand. Since these fans value the influencer’s opinion greatly, they will likely adopt the same feelings toward your brand (hopefully positive).  Developing positive relationships with influencers is mission critical to your success and can instantly add creditability and value.

Facebook Advertising Success-Via Email?

We have been having a lot of success lately using various Facebook Advertising features for our clients.  The “sexy” part of Social Media to most businesses and brands, is the actual marketing on social networks to drive eyeballs, likes and behavior in general.  This is how you get new fans to engage with you and it takes you one true step closer to doing business of some kind with them.

Screen Shot 2013-07-06 at 8.19.38 AMOne particular function that we like is “Custom Audiences” which is a feature in the Power Editor that allows you to upload your own email list (or a segment of it) and reach your subscribers via Facebook Ads.  It is important to note that your subscribers’ email addresses are hashed (encrypted) so you dont have to worry about them suddenly getting emails from Facebook.

You can also create “Lookalike Audiences” where Facebook finds users for you with similar demographics to your email list (but not necessarily based on the social graph), so these are people you may not otherwise have been able to reach. One clever tactic is to upload your ‘unsubscribe’ list, which might bring back fans/customers who possibly like your product, but were tired of your emails.

Custom Audiences and Lookalike Audiences are effective tools to increase your fan base, engagement, click thru rates and ultimately get more paying customers/clients. Power Editor is an advanced feature available in your main Ads Dashboard.

Facebook has a free PDF guide to Creating and Managing Custom Audiences!! Cool. You can download it here:http://fbrep.com/SMB/Custom_Audiences.pdf
