Jenna interned with Sircle Media for ten months and then was promoted up to a full-time Graphic Designer based on her awesome work. We sat down with her and she shared some fun facts about herself, as well as what she learned as an intern, and how that has transitioned into her full-time position. Name: Jenna Ruocco Hometown: Mahopac, New York College: SUNY Plattsburgh-Graduated May 2014 What do you like most about social media? Being able to connect and communicate with people from all over the world. If you were on a desert island, what 3 things could you not be without? Toothpaste, my phone, and my dog What’s your guilty pleasure? Nutella Who is your celebrity crush? Why? Gerard Butler, because he’s an amazing actor, he’s beautiful, and he’s from Scotland. Who doesn’t love a Scottish brogue? Starbucks? Dunkin Donuts? Or the local coffee shop? Starbucks all the way. What was your goal when you started interning at Sircle Media? I was looking forward to really building up my portfolio and also learning more about the business aspects of a professional company.
Now that you are working with us full time, what has changed? What have you learned and done more of that you like? Well I’ve been with Sircle since last December, and started working full time at the end of July. I have been able to balance out my work and really learn time management. I also have a little more time to spend playing around with graphics and learning new things now that I’m working full days.
What is your favorite client to design for? Why? My favorite clients to design for are ecru and Dean Davidson. They are two of the first clients I began designing for when I started and I feel like I have grown with them very nicely. Both are similar in that they have a clean crisp style, yet both are also completely different in their brand approach. So it’s fun to be able to create different styles of graphics based on the client’s preferences. It gives you a chance to expand your skills as a designer.
What do you hope to learn at Sircle Media as a full time employee? I hope to keep improving, and learning every day. Being here since December, I have done just that, so I know Sircle is going to take me to where I want to be as a designer.
We’d like you to meet one of our awesome and innovative designers, Angela Martini! We sat down to ask Angela about her design experience and what she enjoys about the industry, and here is what she had to say!
Hometown: Orange County, New York
How did you get into graphic design? I thought I wanted to go into architecture at first, but then I took a graphic design class in high school & fell in love.
What is your favorite brand from a design standpoint? Why? I have a lot of favorite brands, but lately I’ve been turning to Starbucks for inspiration; they have been putting out some really out of the box design ideas over the past year.
We know all of our clients are awesome, but which one have you really enjoyed working on, again, from a design standpoint? I really do enjoy every client I have worked on, but If I had to choose I think I’d go with Proyo. I think the stuff we put out for them is versatile and fun and speaks to the brand identity very well.
What have you learned from your position at Sircle so far? I’ve learned to take my time! Even though social media is a fast ever-changing cycle, time and preciseness are very important to design at Sircle Media.
What has been your favorite part of working at Sircle Media? I love the fact that I can work from any location. This allows me to work from different places and have my own independence and autonomy. I do also enjoy the team very much as they are very insightful and always willing to help!
Our take? Angela has been a wonderful addition to our team. Her proactive nature and willingness to go above and beyond is what we love about her! Our clients are the biggest beneficiaries, because Angie (as we affectionately refer to her) is a star!
The family continues to grow here at Sircle Media and we are so happy to be adding someone like Genevieve. She is a very talented graphic designer and is a welcomed addition to our team as the demand for graphic work increases. We sat down to get to know her better and this is what we found out:
What is your name- Genevieve Reilly
What made you get into social media? I joined Twitter back in 2009 and that got me into social media and all of it’s glory. I love being able to connect with other people and celebrities quickly and easily. I don’t think I can go a day without checking, updating, tweeting, instagramming or posting something on a social media site.
Where were you born? Manhasset, NY.
How old are you? I am 21 years old.
What is your favorite color and why? Pink, BUT i’m not a girly girl. I have always loved pink, I think because I like every value of the color pink. It just makes me happy.
Best comedy film of all time? Dumb & Dumber. Still makes me laugh.
What was the last thing you listened to on your iPod? Of Monsters and Men -Little Talks.
One celebrity you would take on a date and why? Kat Von D. I met her once already and read all of her books, but it would be awesome to sit down, talk and just hang out with her. Her art is a big passion of hers and she used it to open up two of her own businesses ( a tattoo shop and an art gallery in LA ). She’s successful doing something she loves, what’s better than that?
If you were on a deserted island what 3 items would you need (no electronics allowed)? My sketchbook (pencil included of course), a pair of sunglasses, and my flippers. I could swim all day in those things.
