Parting Words From Our Intern Victoria Karatza

unnamed

We sat down with one of our intern’s Victoria to discuss her time at Sircle Media. We are of course sad to see her go but know that she will go on to do great things!

Sircle: What did you enjoy most about interning at Sircle Media?

Victoria: What I enjoyed most was being able to work with a variety of clients and getting to see them grow and change on social media. I think it is really interesting to see which types of posts their followers like most and all of the types of content to post on different social media outlets. I also really enjoyed being able to do a variety of work, from designing to writing tweets to helping create content, it was nice to be able to do different things each week. Overall I think that Sircle was a great first internship experience. I loved working with Amy Marietta and being able to actually get hands-on experience in this line of work.

Sircle: What was the biggest thing you learned during your time here?

Victoria: The biggest thing I learned was how to create and put out content on different platforms. I learned how to best balance what to post on social media, and prior to this internship I never really put much thought into what is posted and how to ensure a balance of content is created. I think that these skills I learned at Sircle are not only applicable in the workforce but also our daily lives in general, especially since we all revolve around social media.

Social Media Intern: Meet Victoria Karatza

VictoriaKaratza

Name: Victoria Karatza
Hometown: Flint, Michigan
College & year: Pace University, sophomore
What are three things you like about social media? I like how easy it is to find information about what is going on around the world, the fact that I can stay in touch with my friends and family back home, and how people use it as a tool to share ideas and opinions.
What is the one thing that you’re looking forward to most about your internship at Sircle Media? One thing I am looking forward to most about my internship at Sircle Media is the exposure to this type of work environment. It is different from anything I am accustomed to, so I look forward to learning how this whole business works.
If you were on a desert island, what 3 things could you not be without? I would need to have my record player (with my record collection), pens and notebooks, and an endless supply of fruit snacks.
What’s your guilty pleasure? Buzzfeed. The amount of time I spend on that site taking quizzes and watching random videos is actually embarrassing.
Who is your celebrity crush? Why? James Franco. He just seems so interesting, creative, and strange – I love it! Not to mention, despite his recently shaved head, he’s great to look at.
Starbucks? Dunkin Donuts? Or the local coffee shop? I’m a big fan of Dunkin Donuts. Even though I dig the local coffee scene, they closed down all of the Dunkin Donuts by my house back in Michigan, so I usually go to Dunkin while in NYC and the local coffee shop back in Michigan.

Intern Turned Full Time Employee: Meet Jenna Ruocco

10457515_10204125463233347_104587206735399677_nJenna interned with Sircle Media for ten months and then was promoted up to a full-time Graphic Designer based on her awesome work. We sat down with her and she shared some fun facts about herself, as well as what she learned as an intern, and how that has transitioned into her full-time position.
Name: Jenna Ruocco
Hometown: Mahopac, New York
College: SUNY Plattsburgh-Graduated May 2014
What do you like most about social media? Being able to connect and communicate with people from all over the world.
If you were on a desert island, what 3 things could you not be without? Toothpaste, my phone, and my dog
What’s your guilty pleasure? Nutella
Who is your celebrity crush? Why? Gerard Butler, because he’s an amazing actor, he’s beautiful, and he’s from Scotland. Who doesn’t love a Scottish brogue?
Starbucks? Dunkin Donuts? Or the local coffee shop? Starbucks all the way.
What was your goal when you started interning at Sircle Media? I was looking forward to really building up my portfolio and also learning more about the business aspects of a professional company.

Now that you are working with us full time, what has changed? What have you learned and done more of that you like? Well I’ve been with Sircle since last December, and started working full time at the end of July. I have been able to balance out my work and really learn time management. I also have a little more time to spend playing around with graphics and learning new things now that I’m working full days.

What is your favorite client to design for? Why? My favorite clients to design for are ecru and Dean Davidson. They are two of the first clients I began designing for when I started and I feel like I have grown with them very nicely. Both are similar in that they have a clean crisp style, yet both are also completely different in their brand approach. So it’s fun to be able to create different styles of graphics based on the client’s preferences. It gives you a chance to expand your skills as a designer.

What do you hope to learn at Sircle Media as a full time employee? I hope to keep improving, and learning every day. Being here since December, I have done just that, so I know Sircle is going to take me to where I want to be as a designer.

What are three things you like about social media? My favorite thing about social media is how easy it makes it to keep in contact with others.  I constantly check Instagram and Facebook in order to see what all my friends are up to throughout the week. It also allows me to keep in touch with friends who I do not see on a daily basis. Lastly, I love that I can stay updated on my favorite brands.

What is the one thing that you’re looking forward to most about your internship at Sircle Media? I’m looking forward to learning more about how social media affects the market place. As an avid social media user, I am intrigued to see how my actions influence the business behind it.

If you were on a desert island, what 3 things could you not be without? Contacts, sunscreen, and my favorite pony-tails (one thick and one thin-can that count as one item!)

What’s your guilty pleasure? Dancing and singing alone in my room to One Direction and Justin Bieber (shh-don’t tell!)

Who is your celebrity crush? Why? Andrew Garfield, because who wouldn’t want to date a superhero?

Starbucks? Dunkin Donuts? Or the local coffee shop? Unlike most people, I am not a coffee drinker.  But hey, who doesn’t love the occasional Vanilla Bean Frappuccino from Starbucks to release their inner twelve year-old self?
