I am so honored to have been selected as a panel speaker at the upcoming PlannerTech 2013. The event will be held in NYC on August 13th (my Mom’s Birthday, so a lucky day to begin with) at CONVENE Event Space and I am really looking forward to it.
I was asked to be there by the incomparable Liz King who owns Liz King Events and who is organizing this awesome day. She is a real hustler and a good friend and supporter of Sircle Media. Big fan of all things Liz! I will be on the panel with Janine Just who is also one of my favorite people to work with and someone who I was introduced to originally by Liz. (The Power of “social” networking!)
The event brings together great minds (and me apparently) in and around the event space for an amazing day of education and innovation. I am honored to be a part of it and I just hope I represent them well. If you’re a corporate or independent event planner that knows you need to stay on the cutting edge of what’s new in event tech (or need a little convincing!), this is the event for you. Whether you’re new to the game or simply like the idea of technology enabling you to do what you currently do better, faster, stronger …then click here.
We are so pleased to welcome the newest member of the Sircle Media Clan, Amanda Abrams. She is a very smart girl and the youngest we have ever had on staff at 19. Today was her first official day with the crew and she was incredible. As soon as she walked through the doors, she was focused on making an immediate impact, and that she did! We asked her some questions to learn a bit more about her and this is what we found out:
What is your name- Amanda Abrams
What made you get into social media? I decided to get a Facebook in the 9th grade so I can keep in touch with my camp friends! After that, my Facebook just exploded. I started using Twitter and Instagram a little over a year ago and I am now obsessed! I am constantly checking what the brands and my friends I am following are saying. Social Media is changing the world and I am happy to be a part of it!
Where were you born? Dix Hills, NY
How old are you? I am 19 years old.
What is your favorite color and why? I love green and purple, especially when they are next to each other. I’ve liked green since the 5th grade for some reason and purple just always tends to catch my eye!
Best comedy film of all time? The Ringer!! I die of laugher every time I watch it!
What was the last thing you listened to on your iPod? Why Georgia by John Mayer
One celebrity you would take on a date and why? Ryan Gosling! I love every single movie he is in and he is just so good looking and simply perfect in every way.
If you were on a deserted island what 3 items would you need (no electronics allowed)? I would bring a bag of Smartfood popcorn, a compass, and a pair of socks (you always need socks!!!).
I was just going through some of my favorite reads from 2012 and I came across this piece. I often go back and review some of the old material put out by experts to see which were right, who had it wrong etc. I find this piece to be very insightful as it breaks down the psyche behind what motivates social engagement. Which then hopefully leads to social commerce, the holy grail (so to speak) of today’s online market.
It was written by Brian Solis, a Yoda type thought leader in my business and someone who I respect very much. I think it is just very well executed and although at this point it is old, it is still very relevant and useful.
One of the main things that helps it stand out is the way he presented the piece. The use of imagery to help give context to the copy, to help break up the read and to help make it visually stimulating is kind of what “Social Media” and great content is all about. I recommend this as a read for all CMO’s, E-commerce Directors and Community Managers at any brand!
The family continues to grow here at Sircle Media and we are so happy to be adding someone like Genevieve. She is a very talented graphic designer and is a welcomed addition to our team as the demand for graphic work increases. We sat down to get to know her better and this is what we found out:
What is your name- Genevieve Reilly
What made you get into social media? I joined Twitter back in 2009 and that got me into social media and all of it’s glory. I love being able to connect with other people and celebrities quickly and easily. I don’t think I can go a day without checking, updating, tweeting, instagramming or posting something on a social media site.
Where were you born? Manhasset, NY.
How old are you? I am 21 years old.
What is your favorite color and why? Pink, BUT i’m not a girly girl. I have always loved pink, I think because I like every value of the color pink. It just makes me happy.
Best comedy film of all time? Dumb & Dumber. Still makes me laugh.
What was the last thing you listened to on your iPod? Of Monsters and Men -Little Talks.
One celebrity you would take on a date and why? Kat Von D. I met her once already and read all of her books, but it would be awesome to sit down, talk and just hang out with her. Her art is a big passion of hers and she used it to open up two of her own businesses ( a tattoo shop and an art gallery in LA ). She’s successful doing something she loves, what’s better than that?
If you were on a deserted island what 3 items would you need (no electronics allowed)? My sketchbook (pencil included of course), a pair of sunglasses, and my flippers. I could swim all day in those things.
